Britchops Foundation Drum Course MIDI Playback Resources
Course MIDI file playback Options: GM, GS and XG?

The Britchops Foundation Drum Course
allows you to playback the entire course MIDI
file library in standard GM (General MIDI) or
Roland GS MIDI file formats. At present over 95%
of PCs sold annually have both a GM and GS MIDI synthesizer already built into the system.
Every file will playback in both MIDI formats on
your PC at no extra cost. All you have to do is decide which
MIDI playback device you want to use to hear these files. If you are
already familiar with MIDI then you can play the files on your existing GM or
GS compatible playback device.
For
all Windows PC users new to MIDI, Britchops Drum Tuition recommends the
FREE vanBasco Karaoke MIDI
Player. This excellent freeware will playback your MIDI files in GM format and features tempo (speed) control to set the file playback at a pace that is comfortable for you:

There are loads of free GM MIDI players like this
for Windows users available on the Internet and the choice is yours. Just remember that to get the best out of the course, your playback device must have playback tempo (speed) control and preferably a loop/repeat feature to play the file over and over as you practise.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE FOR MAC USERS: At present there are
no known MIDI file players available as freeware
for Mac users which include the tempo adjustment
feature. As a result, all Mac users will be
required to purchase further shareware (avg.
price £5-15) in order to fully use the
Britchops course. Britchops Drum Tuition
recommends the following Mac compatible MIDI
players available through Harmony Central links:

It
is with great regret that Britchops Drum Tuition
must announce that Yamaha has discontinued the
S-YXG50 Softsynthesizer (used extensively by
Britchops Drum Tuition). Britchops Drum Tuition
can assure its customers that current owners of
the S-YXG20/50/100 Softsynthesizer range (used
by over 40 million worldwide) will be able to
make continued use of the XG MIDI drum voices
for the Britchops Foundation Drum Course. The
course will still be compatible with other XG
MIDI products (use of which will require an
extra purchase) available through Yamaha,
such as the incredible SW1000XG. Links are
provided below for further information on
existing XG MIDI and available ranges:
