FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What do I need to use the
Britchops Foundation Drum Course?
You do not need any
previous
experience of drum tuition or music in order to start
the course. All you need is your own basic five-piece drum kit
or practice kit, a pair of sticks and somewhere to practice!
Not got a drum kit yet? See Drum
Links.
The course download comes in Adobe PDF
(Portable Document Format) file format that makes it
accessible across a range of PC platforms including Windows
95/98/2000/Me/XP and Mac OS. To access the course PDF file,
you will need the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader software available
by FTP download from the Adobe website. You will also need a
GM (general
MIDI), GS or Yamaha XG compatible MIDI playback device (GM only for
Mac users). The
FREE vanBasco MIDI
player
is available for all Windows PC users. See
Course
Requirements and Course MIDI
Options pages for full details.

drummers for drum strokes and what they can
play on the kit.
Q: What has happened to the Yamaha S-YXG50
information and XG links on this site?
It
is with great regret that Britchops Drum Tuition
must announce that Yamaha has discontinued the
S-YXG50 Softsynthesizer (used extensively by
Britchops Drum Tuition). Britchops Drum Tuition
can assure its customers that current owners of
the S-YXG20/50/100 Softsynthesizer range (used
by over 40 million worldwide) will be able to
make continued use of the XG MIDI drum voices
for the Britchops Foundation Drum Course. The
course will still be compatible with other XG
MIDI products (use of which will require an
extra purchase) available through Yamaha, such
as the incredible SW1000XG. See
MIDI Options page for
further details and available XG links.
Britchops Drum Tuition will, of course, keep you
up to date on developments here and inform you
of any future replacement products from Yamaha.
Please accept sincerest apologies for this
inconvenience and reduction in the functionality
of the Britchops course. But be assured that the
course still works fully with GM and GS MIDI
file formats and playback devices.
